Surveyors And The

Cadastral Data Content Standard

- Part Two -

Bureau Of Land Management
Nevada Land Exchange

General Information
Crosswalk To The Cadastral Data Content Standard

General Information

The Bureau of Land Management completed a land exchange which involved acquiring land in the Lake Tahoe area from a private corporation.  The corporation, in turn, acquired Federal land in the southern part of the Las Vegas Valley.  The property acquired for public use includes lake frontage, which will protect the property, improve conservation management, protect important natural resources, and provide increased recreational opportunities and public access to the lake.  The Las Vegas Valley public lands selected by the private corporation were identified for disposal in BLM land use planning documents.   This transaction was the final phase of a multi-part exchange with the corporation.  In previous phases, the federal government acquired various other environmentally sensitive properties and water rights in Nevada.

On the Plat shown below, Lot 7 represents a parcel that was part of the lands acquired by the private corporation in the Las Vegas area.   A survey was conducted to identify land south of the power transmission line preferred by the corporation.  (Note: scroll your browser down and to the right to see the remainder of the plat.)

Crosswalk of Survey Plat and Notes To The Cadastral Data Content Standard

The left column of the table below contains a list of the some of the cadastral data found on the BLM survey plat and field notes shown above.

The right column contains the Cadastral Data Content Standard entity and attribute which corresponds to the information in the left column.

Overall, the table lists numerous connections between the BLM Nevada survey plat and the FGDC Cadastral Data Content Standard.  This represents many links, key terms, or relate items --- in other words, a wealth of capability to work with standardized definitions and to use these definitions as understandable links between multiple agencies and varying databases.
