The purpose of this exercise is to give you practice translating cadastral data to the Cadastral Data Content Standard. This practice will prepare you for translating your own cadastral data to the standard.
In this exercise, the Special Warranty Deed documents the conveyence of land from one person to another. This is a typical land transaction, and includes a wide array of information which corresponds to the Standard.
While doing this exercise, think about the land transactions which relate to your own work, and the information which is required to document the transactions. You will find that not only are the land extent and value involved, but so are such things as County, Effective Date, Ownership Type, Corner Points, and many others.
First click on the green arrow button below to read the
entire Special Warranty Deed 6121-18, and the follow the green arrow buttons
through the remaining documents which pertain to the parcel in question.
(The information used in this exercise comes from an educational
scenario for the "County of Sedar", created by Knud Hermansen, Ph.D., of
the University of Maine. Special thanks to Dr. Hermansen for permission
to use these excerpts from his comprehensive scenario.)
