Met Ms. Next, Esq. at 0900 hours. She showed us the posts she set at the corners (#1, #4 & #5). She used Client's deed information and measured from the center of Hall's Ford Road up along Windhaven Road 61 rods to set post at corner 4. She then measured over 91 rods from the center of Windhaven Road and north from Hall's Ford Road 61 rods to set another post at corner 5. The post at corner 1 was set by measuring 61 rods over from the center of Windhaven Road. After she set the posts, she removed the fence that was residing on her side of a line between the posts (4-5). This caused Client to become upset when he visited his property and an argument developed. This happened about three years ago. About three weeks ago she saw Client fishing in the run on her property near the westerly side of Client's property. She says she became very upset to see Client fishing without permission on her property and then to have Client tell her that she plans to put a hunting camp on the property. Next has been feeding deer and doesn't want Client or any hunters shooting the deer. She gave us permission to survey the property but wants to know when we will be in the field and wants to be present when we set the corner monuments. (I believe we can expect a very irate lady if we set pins on "her side" of the posts she set.) After she left for work we continued our recon which we interrupted to meet her.
#1 Along Hall's Ford Road we found where a run crosses the road. The run is about 6 feet wide and ranges from 6 inches to 4 feet deep. (Picture 1) There was a trout under the bridge. It does not appear that the run has changed its location. (Picture 2)
#3 We looked around for a planted stone but were unable to find a stone or other evidence where it may have stood
Found gas 4 foot high orange colored, tubular metal line marker along Windhaven Road between #3-4. (Picture 3) Appears to cross northeasterly corner of property. (Picture 4)
#4 Found post set by Elizabeth Next. (Picture 5) Approximately 30 feet north of post is faint stone line and remains of wire fence on ground. Picture 6) Looked for spruce. Lots of spruce but none that would be the right size/age, markings, or location for corner marker.
4-5: Found several large stumps and remains of trees. (Pictures 7-10) Found three trees with wire protruding. (Pictures 11-13) Two trees with old blazes. One dead, one alive.(Pictures 15-16). Trees 5 feet south of fence remains and stone line. Blazes are 80+ years old based on borings made in living tree.
#5: No sign of fence within 200 feet of run. Found what could be scattered remains (4' diameter) of stone pile on east side of run. (Picture 17) Large trunk (28" dia.) with remains of two blazes visible. (Picture 18) At this time, unable to tell which way trunk was oriented when standing. Found post Elizabeth Next set approximately 30 feet east of run and 24 feet south of large tree trunk. (Picture 19)
5-1: Run appears to wind down a gentle slope to the road. (Picture 20). Did not observe any evidence of sudden shift of location.
#1 Found remains of post we had missed when we started. Remains of post located 20 feet on east side of run, 20 feet north of asphalt edge. (Picture 21)
