Example of Two Different Ways

of Describing Land Within One Organization


The two examples shown below are ways of describing land in different offices of the Bureau of Land Management. These varying ways of describing land resulted from the way databases were developed in separate offices over the years. Now that data integration and standardization is upon us, we begin to see the benefits of being able to store data in standardized ways, or being able to translate disparate data sets to a standard.
