The Bureau of Land Management collects and maintains a large volume of land and mineral records on public lands. BLM tracks title rights, uses, restrictions, and management agencies for more than 270 million acres of Federal surface land, and maintains subsurface title and use information for approximately 300 million additional acres.
Along with capabilities for case recordation, mining claims, and other functions, BLM's land and minerals records will interface with cadastral survey coordinate system. For this reason, some work has already begun to crosswalk land and minerals records with the Cadastral Data Content Standard.
