Crosswalk Exercise - Answers


Shown below are the answers to the Crosswalk exercise in which customer entities and attributes from the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM's) land records data were crosswalked to entities and attributes in the Cadastral Data Content Standard. Also included are some notes and explanations of circumstances which influence decisions made during such a crosswalk.

"John" pertains to BLM entity/attribute customer_name/cust_idv_first_name. For this BLM attribute, the corresponding Cadastral Data Content Standard entity/attribute is:

"William" pertains to BLM entity/attribute customer_name/cust_idv_mdl_name. For this BLM attribute, the corresponding Cadastral Data Content Standard entity/attribute is:

"Doe" pertains to BLM entity/attribute customer_name/cust_idv_last_name. For this BLM attribute, the corresponding Cadastral Data Content Standard entity/attribute is:

"Jr." pertains to BLM entity/attribute customer_name/cust_idv_suf_name. For this BLM attribute, the corresponding Cadastral Data Content Standard entity/attribute is:

*Note: In BLM, the nickname "Junior" is recognized as a name used formerly, or historically, for a customer. There is no direct correlation in the Cadastral Standard for an historical name. In fact, to accomodate such a name, the Cadastral Standard assigns a "Former Agent ID" to represent the historical name, and then assigns a new Agent ID to correspond to the Former Agent ID, and finally assigns a new Individual entity in which the Given Name of "Junior" can be recorded.


"5/14/94" pertains to the BLM entity/attribute customer_relationship/cust_rel_recs_date. For this BLM attribute, the corresponding Cadastral Data Content Standard entity/attribute is:

*Note: There Cadastral Data Content Standard has no entity/attribute for recording date information about an Agent's or Individual's relationship or name change.

This applies also to organization type, shown below.
