For an in depth example of the scope of cadastral information in GIS use, assume for the moment that you are a GIS Specialist working in the State of Wyoming.  A broad scale land planning project is about to begin, and you have been asked to use the GIS to depict the complexity of land uses, rights, and activities for private land holdings as they relate to:

Your job would be to assemble the appropriate spatial data, and then use it to illustrate the land situation.  Because of Wyoming’s size, and because of the complexity of activities taking place on the land in Wyoming, you decide, before depicting a large region, to have a look at a specific township in Campbell County.

Assembling the spatial data, you are able to locate numerous themes, which you have narrowed down to the following list for this project:

The links below show the complexity of land use activities and rights in the area which you would be able to depict with the spatial data you have collected.

Coal
Oil and Gas
Ownership
Surface Ownership And Subsurface Mineral Rights
Wildlife, and Summary
